[0012] In some embodiments described herein, navigation software can continuously generate a route to a moving object in real-time. For example, a target mobile device may automatically monitor its own location and issue location information updates in real-time when its location has changed by more than a threshold amount. Mapping software (located on a source device such as a mobile phone or a server computer) can receive real-time updates from the target device and generate new route directions from the source device to the target device. The target mobile device may include an option to send its Global Positioning System (GPS) coordinates or other position / location information directly to the server computer or source device. The direct peer option, which sends directly to the source device, prevents third-party services from tracking the target device for security reasons.
