A method for handling such a power failure includes a vehicle system including first and second failsafe devices. Each fail-safe device includes a processor and memory. The memory stores instructions for execution by the processor to perform at least one of detecting a fault and providing communication regarding the fault. The vehicle system further includes an arbitration bus connecting the first and second fail-safe devices. Communication about faults may be provided from one of the fail-safe devices to the other of the fail-safe devices.
