Abstract

Systems and methods provide a search system having a third party provided search application triggered and run on the search system in response to a specified query. For example, a method may include: determining that a query triggers a third-party search application hosted at a search system; extracting parameters from the query based on a query template; sandboxing the third-party search at the search system using the parameters applying to generate a third-party formatted response to the query; and providing the third-party formatted response as a search result for the query. A third party may provide query templates, parameter attributes, and responses formatted by said third party. A third-party search application may be stored at the search system and include query templates, data stores, parameter properties, and instructions for the parameters to access the data store.
