Abstract

Methods and systems for wrapping a streamlined tether around a drum are provided. The tether can be attached to the aircraft. The method may involve directing a streamlined tether around an exterior surface of a drum, wherein the drum includes a helical step around the exterior surface configured to engage at least a portion of the streamlined tether and pass along the drum The longitudinal axis superimposes subsequent layers of wrapped tethers in a staggered fashion. The streamlined tether may be guided onto steps using one or more level wraps.
