The invention discloses a modeling method and system of a coal-fired boiler in a thermal power plant. The method comprises the steps of determining at least one input parameter type and at least one output parameter type of a model built for the coal-fired boiler; sampling respectively according to the input parameter type and the output parameter type, and obtaining sampling data corresponding to the parameter types; conducting low-pass filtering and normalization treatment on the sampling data; determining a model hierarchy of an NARX network model, a neuron function and an activation function in each hierarchy based on the number of the parameter types in the sampling data and coupling relationship among the parameter types; conducting modeling to the sampling data based on the model hierarchy of the NARX network model, the neuron function and the activation function in each hierarchy, and obtaining the NARX network model of the coal-fired boiler.
