Abstract

A session switching method, comprising: a managing apparatus receives a session establishing request message from a target gateway carrying a user identifier therein; the managing apparatus determines that the session establishing request carries a switching instruction for indicating that a user access policy and charging control gateway has undergone switching; finding, on the basis of the user identifier, a session already existing between a user managing apparatus and source gateway, transferring session information of the session between the managing apparatus and the source gateway to a session between the managing apparatus and the target gateway; sending to the target gateway a session establishment response message; and the managing apparatus receiving from the target gateway a switching completion notification message, and sending to the source gateway a session termination request message; wherein, the switching completion notification message is sent if the target gateway knows that the user downlink flow is not forwarded through the source gateway. The above solution resolves a problem relating to user session switching.
