Embodiment Construction

[0015] refer to figure 1 , figure 1 A vehicle 11 is shown having a bonnet 13 (eg a closure panel) with a striker 22 provided thereon. The striker 22 is capable of being captured by the latch 10 mounted on the body (shown at 15 ) of the vehicle 11 . Passenger compartment 37( figure 1 ) actuates the release lever 16 for the first time (eg, manually) by pulling the handle 35 so that the handle 35 is coupled to the release lever 16 by the cable 33, which disconnects the pawl 14 from the ratchet wheel 12.

[0016] refer to figure 2 , the latch 10 includes a ratchet 12 , a pawl 14 , a release lever 16 , a stop lever 40 , a lever or action lever 42 and a housing 20 . Such as figure 2 As shown, the ratchet 12 is pivotally connected to the housing 20 by a pivot 25, and under normal operation, the ratchet 12 can be image 3 main closed position shown in, Figure 4 The secondary closed position shown in (as Figure 4 shown) with figure 2 The open position shown in (as figur...

Abstract

The present invention provides a latch for a vehicle closure panel comprising: a latch housing; a ratchet mounted to the latch housing and movable between closed and open positions, the ratchet having first and second portions and a channel the ratchet; and a pair of levers comprising a control lever and a stop lever, the control lever being aligned in contact with the first portion in the rest position so as to overcome the bias of the biasing member to facilitate the ratchet and The pair of rods rotate in conjunction for causing: rotation of the ratchet above a predetermined speed threshold to cause co-rotation to bring the second portion into contact with the stop rod, thereby preventing travel of the striker into the over-impact region of the channel; and Rotation below a predetermined speed threshold results in misalignment into common rotation and prevents the second portion from contacting the stop bar, thereby facilitating travel of the striker pin into an overstrike region of the channel; wherein the predetermined speed threshold is in contact with the biasing member related to the bias strength.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to latches for closure panels, and more particularly, to vehicle hood latches. Background technique [0002] Latches for vehicle hoods and similar devices typically actuate in two stages. During the first phase, the handle is actuated inside the vehicle, which moves the latch from the primary closed position to the secondary closed position. To fully release the latch, a vehicle occupant can typically either get out of the vehicle and actuate a lever located under the hood, or a handle (eg double pull) can be activated from inside the vehicle during a second stage to move the latch from the secondary closed position to the open position. [0003] In the case of lifting the hood in general and for active pedestrian protection systems in particular, the latch needs to provide more travel than is used for normal opening (e.g. the striker pin is in the slot of the latch over the trip). Due to the mechanical constraints of...
