Abstract

This disclosure relates to systems and methods of predicting physical parameters for a combustion fuel system. In one embodiment of the disclosure, a method (300) of predicting physical parameters ofa combustion fuel system (100) includes causing water injection in at least one combustor. The water injection is associated with at least one time and performed during gaseous fuel operations or after liquid fuel operations. The method includes measuring exhaust spread data associated with the water injection and allows correlating the exhaust spread data to at least one physical parameter associated with a nozzle (12) or a valve of the fuel system. The method further includes storing the exhaust spread data, the at least one physical parameter, and the at least one time to a database. The method further provides stored historical data from the database to an analytical model. The analytical model is operable to predict, based at least partially on the stored historical data, at least onefuture physical parameter associated with a future time.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of turbomachines, and more particularly to systems and methods for predicting physical parameters of combustion fuel systems. Background technique [0002] Combustion fuel systems combust gaseous fuels (eg, natural gas). Some combustion fuel systems can burn gaseous fuels as well as liquid fuels, such as diesel. Typically, dual fuel combustion systems operate using gaseous fuels, with liquid fuels used as backup fuels when gaseous fuels are not available (eg, due to problems associated with the delivery of gaseous fuels to the combustion fuel system). [0003] Combustion chambers of combustion fuel systems may be configured to receive both gaseous and liquid fuels. The use of liquid fuels can result in by-products or material loss due to erosion / corrosion, which can degrade the flow paths used to deliver the fuel in the combustion chamber and, as a result, reduce the productivity and reliability of the comb...
