Abstract

Methods and apparatus for a CSI reporting mechanism are provided. A user equipment (UE) includes a transceiver and a processor operatively connected to the transceiver. The transceiver is configured to receive CSI process configuration information including at least one beamforming type associated with a plurality of non-zero power (NZP) channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI‑RS) resource configurations, and to receive the CSI‑RS Resource Index (CRI) report configuration. The processor is configured to calculate a CRI and a channel quality indicator (CQI) in response to receiving the configuration information. The transceiver is also configured to report CRI and CQI by sending them on an uplink channel.
