Abstract

The present invention discloses an address resolution method and device, and relates to the field of communication technology. The objective of the invention is to solve the problem that a distributedforwarding device cannot respond to an NS (Neighbor Solicitation) message sent by a neighbor device in a master-slave switching process in the prior art. The method comprises the steps that: an LPU (Line Processing Unit) receives a first NS message, wherein the first NS message is an NS message sent by a neighbor device; and if a target address carried by the first NS message is an IPv6 (InternetProtocol Version 6) address of a distributed forwarding device, the LPU sends an NA (Neighbor Advertisement) message responding to the first NS message to the neighbor device, wherein the NA messagecarries a link layer address corresponding to the target address.
