Abstract

The invention discloses the application of FTY720 in protecting neurologic functions. The FTY720 has remarkable effects of suppressing neuronal cell death after transient cerebral ischemia in rats andbrain edema after intracerebral hemorrhage. The FTY720 with different doses is adopted for treating traumatic brain injury of the rats, and the influence of the FTY720 on brain inflammatory response,the neuronal cell apoptosis and the neurologic functions of the rats is observed, so that the dose-efficacy relationship of the FTY720 is disclosed. In addition, abdominal cavities of the rats are injected with the FTY720 in small dose and high dose, and the results show that the FTY720 with two doses both can suppress neuronal cell apoptosis of damaged cortexes of the rats and the activity of caspase3, reduce the concentrations of brain tissue tumor necrosis factor-alpha, interleukin-1beta and interleukin-6, and improve the limb function and the cognitive function of the rats.
