[0044] Holographic Deviating Mirror

[0045] figure 1 A real-space representation of a holographic deflection mirror 100 is shown. The holographic deflection mirror 100 includes a grating structure 120 recorded on a holographic grating medium 110, such as Akonia Holographics, LLC (Longmont, Colorado). Holographic polymer medium, or from Covestro AG (Leverkusen, Germany) HX200 photosensitive, self-developing photopolymer film. The grating structure 120 may include many discrete holographic gratings, each reflecting light over a narrow range of angles and / or wavelengths.

[0046] In this case, the grating structure 120 comprises a number of holographic gratings defining a deflection axis 121 and a reflection axis. The grating vector of each holographic grating is parallel or coincident with the skew axis 121 forming a skew angle φ with respect to the surface normal 111 of the holographic grating medium 110 . As briefly mentioned above, each holographic grating reflects...

Abstract

A holographic skew mirror has a reflective axis, or skew axis, that can be tilted with respect to its surface normal. Tilting the skew axis in two dimensions with respect to the surface normal expandsthe holographic skew mirror's possible field of view, e.g., to 60 or more. These additional angles can be accessed using an out-of-plane writing geometry with matched total internal grazing extensionrotation (TIGER) prisms.
