Abstract

This article provides guidance systems for downhole hydraulic jet nozzles and steerable borehole excavation equipment. The guide system includes at least three longitudinally oriented and electrically conductive actuator wires and a hydraulic jet nozzle; each of the actuator wires is fixed to the flexible tubular body and each of the distal actuator wires is configured to respond to contracting upon receiving an electric current; and a hydraulic jet nozzle secured to the distal end of the flexible tubular body. The steerable borehole excavation apparatus includes a tubular body, a hydraulic jet nozzle, one or more geospatial IC chips located near a distal end of the tubular body, a set of data lines, a set of power lines, and a set of actuator lines; the tubular body and the hydraulic jet nozzle is disposed at the distal end of the tubular body and configured to excavate rock in the formation in response to delivery of the jet fluid Substrate, as borehole.
