The method includes the following steps of: (1) the pretreatmentof the SBS modified asphalt; (2) the cryopreservation of the SBS modified asphalt; (3) the low-temperature cutting of the SBS modified asphalt; (4) the scanning of a SBS modified asphalt sample; and(5) topographical image and phase diagram observation to determine the degree of the dispersion of the polymer in the SBS modified asphalt. According to the method of the invention, nitrogen filling protection, liquid nitrogen rapid freezing and the tapping mode scanning of the SBS modified asphalt by the atomic force microscopy (AFM) are adopted, so that the three-dimensional topographic image and phase diagram of the surface of the SBS modified asphalt sample can be obtained directly. The method has the advantages of simple operation, no need for excessive processing of the sample, clear detection pictures, high detection accuracy, and higher applicability.
