An attachment portion (24) of the tobacco rod (12) is received within the lumen (22) and secured to the hollow tube (20) by means of a heat-inactivatable adhesive (26), the A heat-inactivatable adhesive is provided on the outer surface of the wrapper (18) or the inner surface of the hollow tube (20) or both.
