Vascular aging affects occurrence threshold, progression, severity and prognosis of various cardiovascular diseases, and is an important factor contributing to high mortality of the cardiovascular diseases. The vascular smooth muscle cells are one of main components forming vascular walls and are important cell biological bases of the vascular aging. Structure and functions of the vascular smooth muscle cells play an important role in the vascular aging process. The use of the olmesartan has positive clinical significance of delaying the aging of the vascular smooth muscle cells.
