Embodiment Construction

[0021] A system and apparatus for converting inventory material to dunnage is disclosed. The present disclosure generally applies to systems and devices in which supply materials, such as inventory materials, are processed. The stock material is processed by a longitudinal crimper that creates creases longitudinally in the stock material to form dunnage, or a transverse crimper that creates creases transversely across the stock material. Inventory material may be stored in rolls (whether drawn from the inside or outside of the roll), wraps, fan-folded sources, or any other suitable form. Stock material can be continuous or perforated. The converting apparatus is operable to drive the inventory material in a first direction, which may be an anti-run-out direction. The converting device feeds the stock material from the store through the drum in this run-out-proof direction. The stock material may be any suitable type of protective packaging material including, for example, o...

Abstract

A protective packaging stock material unit for use in a dunnage system is disclosed herein. The dunnage system includes dunnage conversion machines and supply stations. The supply station is a cart that includes biased supports connected to vertical side supports. The biased supports are movable relative to the opposed vertical side supports from an open position to a closed position. In the closed position, the biased support is configured to at least partially block the opening between the opposed vertical side supports. In the open position, the supports are biased such that the opening between the opposed vertical side supports is sufficiently open for loading fan-folded stock material therein. The bias support is biased toward a closed position and an open position.

Description

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS [0002] This application claims priority to US Patent Application No. 15 / 593,144 (pending), filed May 11, 2017, and entitled FANFOLD SUPPLY CART, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention is in the field of protective packaging systems and materials, particularly for storage and distribution of fan-folded materials used in protective packaging systems. Background technique [0004] In the case of paper-based protective packaging, the paper sheet is crumpled to produce dunnage. Most commonly, such dunnage is produced by passing a generally continuous strip of paper through a dunnage converter that converts a compact supply of stock material such as a roll or fan-folded paper. piles) into less dense litter. A supply of stock material (eg, in the case of fan-folded paper) is drawn into the converting machine from a stack formed continuously or with discrete ...
