Embodiment Construction

[0032] The present invention relates to beam steering techniques for phased array antenna systems, and more particularly to beam steering in highly directional antenna systems. Wherein, the sensor in the antenna system is used to detect the movement of the user equipment.

[0033] Phased array antenna beamforming and beam alignment are the main techniques used in mobile communications in the mmWave band. The user experience is improved by reducing beam search and alignment time in the signal acquisition phase and beam tracking in the stay-connected state. By using the information provided by motion sensors and proximity sensors within the user equipment, beam acquisition time can be saved and beam tracking performance can be improved, thereby improving network resource utilization and reducing mobile power consumption.

[0034]The techniques in this disclosure employ beam steering in a highly directional antenna system to reduce signal acquisition time and improve tracking pe...

Abstract

The present invention relates to beam steering techniques. In this technology, one or more antennas are used to form a beam pointing in a first beam direction according to a configuration corresponding to the environment; after the azimuth of the user equipment changes, the direction change of the beam is identified, wherein the azimuth change is determined by one or more sensors in the user equipment; a second beam direction is calculated from the first beam direction and the change in the orientation of the user equipment; by steering the beam to the second beam The direction configures the one or more antennas to compensate for the change in the orientation of the user equipment.

Description

[0001] Related applications [0002] This application claims US Non-Provisional Patent Application No. 15 / 847,703 filed on December 19, 2017 and entitled "Apparatus and Method Using Mobile Sensor Based Beam Steering Control" and filed on November 13, 2017, entitled " Prior application priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 585,152 to Apparatus and Method Using Mobile SensorBased Beam Steering Control. The contents of these prior applications are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present invention generally relates to beam steering of phased array antennas, and in particular, to beam steering using information provided by sensors in user equipment, thereby realizing motion compensation.
