Abstract

The invention provides an exhaust purification device of an internal combustion engine capable of effectively suppressing deterioration of a catalyst. The exhaust purification device of an internal combustion engine comprises a catalyst 20 arranged in an exhaust passage and able to store oxygen, and an air-fuel ratio control device configured to control an air-fuel ratio of inflowing exhaust gas flowing into the catalyst. The catalyst has a precious metal and the precious metal has a property of a vapor pressure at a predetermined temperature becoming lower when oxidized. If a temperature of the catalyst is equal to or greater than a threshold temperature or if predicting a rise in temperature of the catalyst, the air-fuel ratio control device is configured to make the air-fuel ratio of the inflowing exhaust gas leaner than a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio so that an oxygen storage amount of the catalyst becomes equal to or greater than an upper side reference amount.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an exhaust purification device for an internal combustion engine. Background technique [0002] Conventionally, it is known that a catalyst is arranged in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine, and harmful substances (HC, NOx, etc.) in the exhaust gas are purified by the catalyst (for example, Patent Document 1). However, if oxygen is supplied to the catalyst in a state where the temperature of the catalyst is high, the catalyst may deteriorate due to oxidation of the noble metal. [0003] On the other hand, in the internal combustion engine described in Patent Document 1, when the temperature of the catalyst is equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature when the execution condition of the fuel cut control to stop the fuel injection of the fuel injection valve is established, the fuel cut control is executed. Used to control the inflow of EGR gas to the catalyst instead of live gas. Thereby, inf...
