Embodiment Construction

[0022] The following description of the embodiments refers to the accompanying drawings. The same reference numbers in different drawings identify the same or similar elements. The following detailed description does not limit the invention. Rather, the scope of the invention is defined by the appended claims. For simplicity, the following embodiments are discussed with respect to a system that uses a hydraulically actuated cover to form an enclosed chamber in which humid air is trapped and heated. However, the embodiments to be discussed next are not limited to hydraulically actuated covers, but are applicable to any type of moving cover.

[0023] Reference throughout this specification to "one embodiment" or "an embodiment" means that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment is included in at least one embodiment of the disclosed subject matter. Thus, appearances of the phrases "in one embodiment" or "in an embodiment"...

Abstract

An integrated photovoltaic (PV) panel-water sorption layer system (100) that includes a PV panel (110) having a front face (110A) that is configured to receive solar light for generating electrical current, and a back face (110B) that is opposite to the front face (110A); and an atmospheric water harvesting device (130) attached to the back face (110B) of the PV panel (110). The atmospheric water harvesting device (130) is configured to cool down the PV panel (110) by evaporating absorbed atmospheric water based on heat received from the PV panel (110).

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 767,646, filed November 15, 2018, entitled "A METHOD FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) PANEL COOLING ASSISTED BY ATMOSPHERIC WATER HARVESTING MATERIAL," the disclosure of which is incorporated by reference It is incorporated herein in its entirety. technical field [0003] Embodiments of the subject matter disclosed herein relate generally to systems and methods for cooling photovoltaic (PV) panels using water collected from the atmosphere, and more specifically, to absorbing moist air from the air, evaporating the water to cool the PV panels, and A system that condenses water vapor to produce fresh water. Background technique [0004] Solar panels (also referred to herein as solar cells or photovoltaic panels (PV panels)) typically absorb 80% to 95% of the energy from sunlight incident on their surface. From this energy, only about 6% to 25% of the a...
