Abstract

A buckle has a buckle mechanism with a lock pawl and a latch pin. The latch pin is designed to travel only in a longitudinal or horizontal direction relative to the buckle mechanism. When a latch plate assembly is secured, the latch pin holds the lock pawl in a latched position and prevents accidental release of the latch plate assembly. A release button is coupled to the latch plate retention bar so that all of the effective actuation and other motions are in the longitudinal direction of the buckle mechanism. The buckle mechanism has an ejector mechanism with an ejection spring for ejecting the latch plate assembly.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 732,707, filed September 18, 2018, which is incorporated herein by reference. Background technique [0003] Harness systems are commonly used in child car seats and other vehicle restraint systems. Various harness configurations, such as 3-point or 5-point harnesses, may be used to restrain occupants within the vehicle. Buckles are commonly used to join together the various straps forming the harness in order to secure the occupant to the seat. The buckle needs to remain locked and withstand the high forces experienced during an accident, while at the same time, the buckle needs to be able to be unlocked repeatedly to facilitate occupant removal from the harness. Sometimes it can also be difficult to determine if a restraint system is properly engaged. [0004] Therefore, this area needs improvement. Contents of the invention [0005]...
