Embodiment Construction

[0071] in the attached Figures 1 to 13 In , a hand-held motorized food cutting device 10 is schematically depicted. The handheld motorized food cutting device 10 comprises a body 12 having an inlet passage 14 extending inwardly of the body 12 from an inlet opening 16 through which food to be processed (not shown) is inserted. The inlet channel 14 is adapted to allow food to move along the inlet channel (14) in the process direction (18). The movement of food along the inlet channel 14 can be through the impeller 19 (such as figure 2 best shown in ) to assist. In the depicted embodiment, the inlet channel 14 is defined by a feed tube 20 having a generally rectangular cross-section with rounded corners, and the impeller 19 has a corresponding cross-sectional shape to facilitate insertion into the inlet. In the material pipe 20. The feed tube 20 extends away from the first surface 22 of the body 12 such that the inlet opening 16 is spaced a distance 23 from the first surfac...

Abstract

A handheld motorised food cutting device (10) is disclosed herein. The handheld motorised food cutting device (10) comprises a body (12) to be gripped in a user's hand so that the device (10) is supported by the hand, the body (12) having a passage (14) extending inwardly of the body (12) from an inlet opening (16) through which a food item to be processed is inserted for movement along the passage (14) in a processing direction (18); a blade assembly (30) moveably mounted in the body (12) for reciprocating movement along a cutting path that is transverse of said processing direction (18), with the blade assembly (30) being exposed to the passage (14) so as to be engaged by the food item moved in said processing direction (18); and a drive assembly (50) to drive said blade assembly (30) along said cutting path, wherein the body (12) provides a surface to abut a palm of said hand, with fingers of the hand extending at least partly about said body so that the body (12) is gripped, and wherein said processing direction (18) is transverse of said surface.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to food processing, and more particularly to a handheld motorized food cutting device. Background technique [0002] Hand-held food cutting devices, such as mandolins, are manually operated by a user to produce cut or sliced food products. A traditional mandolin typically consists of a frame with a sloped surface and a cutting blade mounted thereon. The user grasps the frame with one hand and slides the food product along the ramped surface with the other hand until it comes into contact with the cutting blades. The cutting blade then cuts or slices the food, the cut or sliced food falling onto the surface below the mandolin. This sliding movement is repeated back and forth along the ramp surface until the desired amount of cut or sliced food is obtained. [0003] The distance between the ramp surface and the blade can be varied to obtain slices or slices of different thickness. The blade arrangement can also be ...
