Embodiment Construction

[0032] As will be described in detail below, one aspect of the present solution envisages a detection device based on the joint or combined use of an infrared temperature sensor and an electrostatic charge change sensor to detect the presence of one or more individuals within the monitored area.

[0033] The present disclosure relates to presence detection devices and methods for systems, including but not limited to anti-intrusion systems.

[0034] In a known way, electric charge is a fundamental building block of nature. The charge of a charged body can be easily transferred to another body under conditions of direct contact or at a distance. A static charge is created when charge is transferred between two electrically insulating objects, making the object with too many electrons negatively charged and the object with not enough electrons positively charged. The displacement of charge has different properties depending on whether the object is a conductor or a dielectric. ...

Abstract

Embodiments of the invention relate to a presence detection device and method. In accordance with an embodiment, the detection device includes: an infrared temperature sensor configured to provide a temperature signal associated with an heat emission of at least one individual within a monitored area; an electrostatic-charge-variation sensor configured to provide a charge-variation signal indicative of a variation of electrostatic charge associated with the at least one individual; and a processing unit, coupled to the infrared temperature sensor and to the electrostatic-charge-variation sensor, the processing unit configured to detect a presence of the at least one individual within the monitored area by receiving the temperature signal and the charge-variation signal, and jointly processing the temperature signal and charge.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of Italian Patent Application No. 102020000007942, filed April 15, 2020, the content of which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to a presence detection device and method. Background technique [0004] Presence detection devices are known for identifying the presence of individuals within the monitored area, in particular for identifying intrusions by unauthorized persons, thereby activating an alarm signal (it is emphasized, however, that other purposes can be envisaged, such as energy-saving applications, or home or industrial automation applications). [0005] Such a device envisages the use of appropriate sensors to detect the presence of individuals in the monitored area. [0006] Known presence sensors include, for example, passive temperature sensors based on the detection of radiation in the infrared...
