Embodiment Construction

[0048] figure 1 with figure 2Containers 100 and 200 are shown intended to be transported by sea on a container ship. Attached to each of the containers 100 and 200 is an apparatus 1 according to the invention for detecting a container falling overboard and geolocating the container.

[0049] The device 1 is therefore intended to detect a container falling overboard and into the sea, and then provide an alert and geolocation information to a person on land or navigating in a geolocated sea area close to the container.

[0050] image 3 is shown for detection such as figure 1 A block diagram of an apparatus 1 for dropping and geolocating a container that has fallen overboard is shown.

[0051] The device 1 comprises an electronic box 2 comprising an accelerometer 3 for measuring acceleration, a control unit 4, a battery 5, a geolocation module 6 and communication means 7 for transmitting geolocation data.

[0052] Other sensors may also be provided, such as gyroscopes, ine...

Abstract

The invention relates to a device for detecting the falling of and for geolocating a container that has fallen overboard comprising: an electronic box (2) and a means for removably attaching the electronic box to an outer part of the container, the electronic box (2) comprising a means for detecting the falling of the container, a control unit (4) provided for controlling the removable attachment means in the event that the falling of the container is detected and for releasing the electronic box (2) from the outer part of the container, a flotation means (10) for making said electronic box float on the water's surface, a geolocation module (6), a data communication means (7), a means for supplying (2) the control unit (4) with power, the device (1) further comprising a tether for keeping the electronic box (2) permanently linked to the container (100, 200) when the box is released from the container. Such a device thus makes it possible to detect the falling of a container into the sea and to communicate its geographical position with a view to its towage.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a device for detecting and geolocating containers that have fallen overboard while being transported by sea. Background technique [0002] Currently, shipping goods by sea accounts for more than 80% of world transactions. However, there is a significant loss of containers at sea, estimated at least 10,000 per year. [0003] The reasons for this loss vary and are of course proportional to the number of containers transported per container ship, which container ships are increasingly being constructed to increase their transport capacity. Among the causes of these losses, adverse weather conditions were mainly involved. Poor loading and the state of the container ships were also aggravating factors. [0004] The dangers and consequences of these lost containers drifting, often referred to as UFOs (Unidentified Floating Objects), are always of great concern and could prove grim and serious. The most obvious danger is collision...
