The brightness compensation method comprises the following steps: determining a starting moment of a backlight compensation driving signal of a current frame according to an ending moment of a backlight standard driving signal of the current frame, and sending the backlight compensation driving signal to a backlight assembly from the starting moment; and determining the ending moment of the backlight compensation driving signal according to the duration of the display leading edge stage of the current frame, and stopping sending the backlight compensation driving signal to the backlight assembly at the ending moment. According to the embodiment of the invention, the starting moment and the ending moment of the backlight compensation driving signal of the current frame are determined, and the backlight assembly is enabled to emit light according to the backlight compensation driving signal between the starting moment and the ending moment so as to realize backlight compensation, so that the brightness of each frame is relatively consistent; the problem of display flicker caused by a dynamic fuzzy problem in a free synchronization mode can be improved, and the display effect is improved.
