The present disclosure relates to an electronic component and a method of manufacturing the same, and more particularly, to a surface mount type electronic component disposed on an electronic device and a method of manufacturing the same. An electronic component according to an exemplary embodiment includes: a main body member having a polyhedral shape and including a recessed portion formed such that at least a portion of a plurality of edges where two mutually adjacent surfaces intersect are recessed; an insulating member disposed on a surface of the main body member to cover the recessed portion; and an electrode member individually provided on a region other than a region on which the insulating member is provided in a surface of the main body member.
