Abstract

The aim of the invention is to specify a transport device (1) in the form of an asymmetrically designed planar motor, which can be operated more efficiently. The at least one transport section (2) is oriented relative to a movement path which is predefined for the transport unit and extends between a defined starting point and a defined end point in such a way that the movement path lies in the transport plane (3), the first movement path ratio of the first main movement direction (H1) over the movement path length of the movement path is equal to or greater than the second main movement path ratio of the second main movement direction (H2) over the aforementioned movement path length.
