Embodiment Construction

[0034] The base station BS shown in FIG. 4 comprises an antenna 10 comprising a plurality of antenna elements 101, . . . , 10n. It is thus an antenna of the type typically designated as an array antenna or synthetic aperture antenna. The antenna 10 is then configured to receive signals originating from one or more mobile terminals T while detecting data concerning the time intervals of their propagation.

[0035] In particular, each antenna element 101,..., 10n carries an associated dedicated transceiver.

[0036] In particular, a receiver 12 is provided for the purpose of receiving signals originating from elements 101, ..., 10n of antenna 10, comprising a plurality of groups 121, ... 12n, each of which is dedicated to an associated antenna Units 101, . . . , 10n. The received signals are then demodulated by a demodulator 14 , which simultaneously comprises a plurality of groups or modules 141 , .

[0037] At the same time, the base station comprises a modulator 16 which r...

Abstract

A method for transmitting signals, in particular digital signals, from a given point, e.g. a base station (BS), to a terminal, e.g. a mobile communications network terminal (T), assuming that said terminal (T) is at a determined moment in time Generate pulse signals. The base station (BS) detects the received waveform, which has been altered as a result of phenomena like multipath propagation, for example. The thus detected waveforms are phase conjugated, for example, in time-reversed form. Transmission from the base station (BS) to the terminal (T) is performed using a waveform corresponding to the thus obtained phase conjugate waveform. In this way, the waveform corresponding to the aforementioned pulse signal can be reconstructed at the terminal (T). Reconstruction occurs only at the geographical location occupied by the terminal (T), without the need for the base station to track the terminal's geographical location or to divide the geographical area into cells to allow frequency reuse.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to communication networks and was built with particular attention to possible use in mobile communication networks. Background technique [0002] In the context of this application, one of the main problems associated with the propagation and correct reception of signals, especially in urban areas, is that of figure 1 In connection with the schematically illustrated formation of multiple propagation paths (multipath or MP) in , it refers to the communication between a base station BS and a mobile terminal T. [0003] This phenomenon (occurring simultaneously in a communication between a mobile terminal T and a base station BS) is linked to another group of phenomena (including wave reflections from obstacles like buildings) and occurs mainly due to the following fact, A signal transmitted with a pulse waveform (see signal P shown in Figure 2) is numerically expressed as image 3 The solid line curve represents the form o...
