[0014] The hydrophobically modified cellulosic polymers described herein include polymers, oligomers, copolymers and crosslinked polymers, oligomers and copolymers. Herein referred to as cellulose-based polymers. As is known to those skilled in the art, oligomers are molecules made up of only a few monomeric units, whereas polymers contain a considerable number of monomeric units. For the purposes of this invention, oligomers are defined as molecules having an average molecular weight of less than about 1000 and polymers are molecules having an average molecular weight of greater than about 1000. One class of suitable cellulose-based polymers has an average molecular weight of from about 5,000 to about 2,000,000, preferably from about 50,000 to about 1,000,000.
