A method for recording driving state of a vehicle and a computer for engine control, recording information indicating driving state such as driving speed SPD in the computer for engine control. After the vehicle stops, the recorded information can be read out by using the self-diagnosis function. Simple indications can be made using simple operations such as grounding the fixed terminal and turning off the CE lamp. Since there are highly reliable records, they can be used as fair monitoring data. In this way, the driving speed information can be used as usual fair supervision data.
