[0021] The present invention relates to the implementation of steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 of expansion, oversampling and pulse shape filtering. The method of the invention takes advantage of the fact that the output I and Q samples are a combination of known sample segments of size 11M (44M for M=4), the size of which is related to the input bit pattern. This method precomputes these known expanded, decimated, and filtered segments and places them in figure 2 shown in Table 22. During data transmission, the transmitter modulates at 20 the input data bits forming a symbol S into I and Q, selects the appropriate samples I, Q from a table 22, and sends them to a radio frequency modulator 18 for transmission.
