The present invention applies to the fields of recovery or utilization of waste materials. The present invention describes a process for recycling banknotes. The banknote manufacturing process generates solid waste, such as rejected paper due to quality problems and printing defects, resulting in a considerable amount of waste that must be properly managed. In this context, in order to solve the aforementioned problem, the present invention offers a recycling process for current banknote paper, based on its composition. Thus, the recycling of the shavings generated in the banknote manufacturing process highlights the importance of the circular economy and the responsible use of resources in the printing industry.
