Cooling system for a glass forming machine

Abstract

A glass forming machine (10) includes a roughing mold frame (62) and a roughing mold (12). The roughing mold frame includes a roughing mold frame half (62A, 62B) that supports a roughing mold half (12A, 12B) and supplies cooling fluid to at least one axial cooling channel (30) defined in the roughing mold half. The roughing mold frame half defines at least one cooling fluid outlet (82), which is in fluidic communication with the at least one axial cooling channel of the roughing mold half. The roughing mold frame half further includes at least one remotely controlled flow control valve (98) configured to selectively adjust a cooling fluid flow (C) through the at least one axial cooling channel of the roughing mold half. A method for cooling a roughing mold is also described.
