Abstract

System (100; 200) for emission control, comprising: an internal combustion engine (104) with an exhaust system; and a control device (102) for controlling emissions of the internal combustion engine (104), wherein the exhaust system of the internal combustion engine (104) is free of an aftertreatment system, and wherein the control device (102) is configured to: determine at least one aging parameter of the internal combustion engine (104) over a period of time (302, 402); control at least one operating parameter of the internal combustion engine (104) on the basis of the at least one aging parameter in order to keep emissions from the internal combustion engine (104) substantially constant over the period of time (304, 410, 412); and reset the at least one operating parameter to a corresponding determined value upon receiving a reset signal when the internal combustion engine (104) is overhauled.
