Abstract

Burner (46) for use in an exhaust stream of an internal combustion engine, comprising a housing (1) that delimits a combustion chamber, a fuel injector for introducing fuel into the combustion chamber, an ignition device for igniting the fuel in the combustion chamber, and a cooling device for cooling the fuel injector and the ignition device by means of a coolant, wherein the cooling device comprises an injector cooling jacket that at least partially surrounds the fuel injector and an igniter cooling jacket that at least partially surrounds the ignition device, characterized in that at least one coolant line (35) that fluidly connects the injector cooling jacket and the igniter cooling jacket is arranged at least partially outside the housing or the injector cooling jacket and the igniter cooling jacket are fluidly unconnected.
