Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating a steering assistance system (1), wherein the steering assistance system (1) provides or controls an assisted steering input (21) of the steering system (51) at least in selected situations, in addition to a steering input (20) requested at a steering wheel, wherein a first target trajectory (T1) of the steering input (31) is determined for providing or controlling the assisted steering input (21) taking into account predetermined first boundary conditions, wherein a second target trajectory (T2) of the steering input (31) is determined taking into account predetermined second boundary conditions, wherein the second boundary conditions are less stringent than the first boundary conditions, wherein the assisted steering input (21) is provided or controlled by means of the steering assistance system (1) according to the first target trajectory (T1), wherein a force is limited on one side until the steering input (31) lying on the second target trajectory (T2) is reached.and wherein the limitation is lifted upon reaching or exceeding the second target trajectory (T2).
