Abstract

The invention relates to a method for optimizing the interior lighting of a household appliance (100) with at least one individually positionable shelf (205, 210, 215, 220) and comprises a step of reading a position signal (415, 420) representing the position of at least one shelf (205, 210, 215, 220) in the interior of the household appliance (100), a step of determining an optimized lighting characteristic for a lighting device for illuminating the interior of the household appliance (100) using the position signal (415, 420), and a step of providing a lighting signal (425, 430, 435) at an interface to the lighting device, wherein the lighting signal (425, 430, 435) is configured to adjust the optimized lighting characteristic at the lighting device.
