Abstract

The invention relates to a method for updating a digital map (1) for rail vehicles (2), comprising: - providing current environmental data concerning a section (9) of a railway line (10), - providing a map section (11) of the digital map (1) with which the section (9) is represented in the digital map (1), - providing map data concerning the map section (11) based on the digital map (1), wherein the map data concerning the map section (11) represents route-specific information of the section (9) in the digital map (1), - determining an assessment result concerning the map section (11) by assessing whether the map data concerning the map section (11) needs to be adjusted based on the current environmental data, and - updating the digital map (1).by adjusting the map data relating to the map section (11) based on the assessment result. Furthermore, the invention relates to an electronic data processing system (5), a computer program (8) and an electronically readable data carrier (25).
