Abstract

Method for operating a parking assistance system (110) of a vehicle (100), wherein the parking assistance system (110) can perform a parking operation to park the vehicle (100) in a parking space (202) using image data of a vehicle environment (200), the method comprising: starting (S1) the parking operation to park the vehicle (100) in the parking space (200); acquiring (S2) the image data of the vehicle environment (200) using an optical sensor (120) of the vehicle (100); analyzing (S3) the acquired image data for the presence of an emergency vehicle (208) in the vehicle environment (200) using an analysis model (404); and stopping the parking process and / or issuing (S4) a warning to a driver of the vehicle (100) depending on the presence of the emergency vehicle (208) in the vehicle's vicinity (200).
