Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for estimating the health status (128) of a battery, wherein the battery is formed by a plurality M of energy storage cells, wherein the health status is determined by estimating a current maximum charge capacity (127) of each individual energy storage cell using a respective linear calculation model comprising several characteristic quantities correlated with the charge capacity, wherein the respective calculation model is trained in an offline training phase (110) comprising a data acquisition step (111), a data preparation step (112), a calculation (113) of the characteristic quantities, a determination (114) of linear coefficients of the respective calculation model and a validation (115), wherein an online calculation phase (120), a current measurement step (125),a calculation (126) of current characteristic quantities and an estimation of a current maximum charging capacity, and in which the battery's state of health is provided by dividing a minimum charging capacity value, which is formed over the maximum charging capacities of all energy storage cells, by a nominal capacity of the battery. Furthermore, a device is presented by which the method can be implemented.
