Abstract

The present invention relates to an optical quantum sensor (100) with a diamond (110) having a color center, configured to emit fluorescent light spatially in multiple directions in response to optical excitation. The quantum sensor (100) further comprises a photodetector (120) with an active sensor surface (121) oriented towards the diamond (110), configured to detect incident fluorescent light emitted by the diamond (110). The active sensor surface (121) has a non-planar topographic surface (122), which results in more fluorescent light striking the active sensor surface (121) perpendicularly than would be the case with a planar active sensor surface.
