Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a mold insert (1) for an injection molding tool, in particular for injection molding optical components of automotive lighting devices, comprising at least the following process steps: - providing a base body (11) of the mold insert (1), in particular made of tool steel, - machining the base body (11) to form a preliminary mold surface (10a), - coating the preliminary mold surface (10a) by means of electroless nickel plating, and - machining the electroless nickel layer (12) to form the final mold surface (10).
