DEVICE FOR ESTIMATING THE CHARGE STATE OF A BATTERY

Abstract

A device for estimating the state of charge of a battery includes an adjuster. The adjuster defines a parameter of the equivalent circuit model as a circuit parameter. This parameter changes depending on the battery temperature. The adjuster selects a temperature range from a set of temperature ranges that includes the battery temperature obtained by a temperature sensor. The temperature ranges are determined based on a division of the battery's operating temperature range. The adjuster sets upper and lower limits for the circuit parameter, corresponding to the boundaries of the selected temperature range. A gain calculator computes an observer gain used by an observer as a function of the upper and lower limits of the circuit parameter set by the adjuster.
