Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an arrangement comprising a mattress, a bed sheet and a bed insert (for example, a slatted frame), and designed for sleeping in the prone position. It has been suggested that mattresses be designed with a depression or a vertical opening in the area where a person's head rests, allowing them to breathe comfortably even when lying face down. The person would simply need to hold their mouth and nose against this depression or opening from above. Mattresses have also been designed with indentations on their upper surface into which the toes of a person lying face down can protrude, eliminating the need to twist their legs when lying in this position. It has been shown that despite these features, people using such a bed often do not lie comfortably for extended periods and move into positions where the aforementioned features of the mattress are not utilized. The first of the problems underlying the invention is to propose a bed that offers further improved comfort for people who wish to lie in it in a prone position. Further problems are described below along with their corresponding solutions. To solve the problem, it is proposed to combine a mattress, a bed sheet, and a bed insert, wherein: - the mattress has a depression and an opening vertically penetrating the mattress in the area where, when used as intended, the head of a person lying on it rests; and - the bed sheet covers the top of the mattress and has an opening whose cross-sectional area overlaps with the cross-sectional area of the opening in the mattress; and - the opening in the bed sheet leads into the upper opening of a tube connected to the bed sheet, open at both ends and extending vertically through the mattress; and - the mattress, in the area of its top surface where, when used as intended, the feet of the person sleeping on the mattress rest, is supplemented by a profile in the form of grooves or a surface.whose profile direction is essentially parallel to the transverse direction of the mattress, - the mattress rests with its underside on a bed insert which extends essentially along the entire underside of the mattress, wherein that part of the bed insert above which, in normal use, the head area of a person lying on the mattress is located, is pivotable downwards relative to the rest of the bed insert, wherein the pivot axis in this respect is aligned parallel to the transverse direction of the bed insert, and is located below that area of the mattress above which, in normal use, the neck or chest area of a person lying on the mattress is located. The aforementioned profiling, which essentially runs in the transverse direction of the mattress, can either be formed by at least two adjacent grooves, wherein one or more profile parts made of a soft elastic material are present, which can be inserted into one or more of the grooves so that the upper side of the profile parts lies essentially flush with the top of the mattress, or by a support part made of a soft elastic material, designed as a profile part, which has at least approximately the cross-sectional shape of a triangle, and projects upwards from the surrounding upper side of the mattress. By combining these features, it is possible for a person who likes to sleep on their stomach to sleep much more peacefully and restfully on their stomach than they would otherwise. According to an advantageous further development, the cross-sectional area of the opening in the mattress is extended in the upper longitudinal area of the opening by a bulge into which the nose of a person lying on the mattress can protrude. According to an advantageous further development of the invention, the mattress comprises a mattress core and a mattress cover, which encloses the outer surfaces of the mattress core so comprehensively that it also extends through the opening in the mattress core in the form of a tube-like area. According to a further preferred development, the mattress cover is completely separable into a top and a bottom part, these two parts being connectable by two zippers, each forming a closed ring. One zipper runs along the outer circumference of both parts, and the second zipper encircles the tube-like area of the mattress core. This makes it easy to ensure that both parts are machine washable and meet modern hygiene standards.Preferably, the upper part is made of a particularly skin-friendly, soft material in the area where the face of a sleeping person is intended to rest, in order to avoid pressure points on the face. According to an advantageous further development, the mattress features a recess into which a soft, elastic filling element can be inserted, whereby, when the filling element is inserted, the upper surface of the filling element and the upper surface of the mattress are essentially flush with each other. This makes it possible to use the mattress effectively even for people who do not prefer to sleep on their stomach. The arrangement according to the invention achieves the advantageous orthopedic effect of preventing or significantly reducing nighttime muscle tension, which normally occurs when lying on the stomach due to sideways twisting of the head, bending of a leg, and the associated contortions. This (often painful) muscular tension, which frequently arises in the neck muscles, the lumbar muscles, and along the spine, could thus be reduced or even prevented. Therefore, the arrangement according to the invention can be used both for acute cases and preventively. According to an advantageous further development, the arrangement in the vicinity of the lower opening of the mattress has a holding device for an aroma substance. The invention is explained in more detail with reference to two sketches. Fig. 1 shows an exploded view of a sectional view of an exemplary arrangement according to the invention, with the section plane running vertically and parallel to the longitudinal direction of the mattress. Fig. 2 shows, in sectional view and slightly enlarged compared to Fig. 1, an optional addition to the arrangement of Fig. 1. Fig. 1 shows a mattress 1, a bed sheet 2 lying on top of it during normal use, and a bed insert 3 on which the mattress 1 rests during normal use. For the sake of clarity, the separate representation of the mattress core and the mattress cover in Fig. 1 has been omitted, and these two parts are sketched together as the mattress 1. The mattress 1 has a depression 4 in the area where, when used as intended, the head of a person lying prone on it rests. An opening 5 extends vertically downwards from the base of this depression through the mattress 1. The opening 5 can have a predominantly circular cross-sectional area with a diameter of approximately 5 cm along its length. Only at its upper end is it extended by a protrusion 6, into which, when used as intended, the nose of a person lying prone on the mattress protrudes. The person's mouth then rests at the upper end of the opening 5, allowing the person to breathe comfortably through it. When used as intended, the edge of a person's face rests against the depression 4 and / or its edge. The precise shape and size of the depression 4, which provides the best possible comfort, are best determined through experimentation. On the area of the upper surface of the mattress 1 where, during intended use, the feet of a person lying prone on it will rest, the mattress 1 has at least two adjacent grooves 7, the longitudinal direction of which is essentially parallel to the transverse direction of the mattress. The mattress also includes at least one profile section 8, which, like the mattress 1, is made of a soft, elastic material and can optionally be inserted into one of the grooves 7 to fill it, so that the upper surface of the profile section and the upper flat surface of the mattress 1 are flush with each other. The person lying on the mattress can insert the toes of their feet into an unfilled groove 7, thus avoiding the need to twist their legs. By choosing which of the 7 grooves are left open, the mattress can be adapted to the size of the user. Fig. 2 illustrates how, instead of grooves 7 and wedges 8, comfortable support for the lower leg and foot area of a person lying on the mattress (indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 2) can be achieved using a support 15. The support 15 is a profile made of a soft, elastic material with a substantially triangular cross-sectional shape, which rests on top of the mattress 1 with its lowermost surface, which is the widest surface. The angle of the cross-sectional area of the triangle at the top is greater than 90°. Unlike the illustration, the corner regions of the support's cross-sectional area can be rounded. The bed sheet 2, typically made of linen or another skin-friendly textile material, has an opening 9 and a tube 10 extending downwards from it, open at both ends. When properly positioned, this tube 10 passes through the opening 5 in the mattress 1. The tube 10 thus lines the channel through which the person's breathing air flows when the bed is used as intended. To prevent the tube 10 from becoming blocked by unintentional folding, its outer surface can be provided with reinforcing elements 11. These reinforcing elements 11 can, for example, be rings arranged coaxially with the tube 10, made of plastic, and sewn to the tube 10. The surface area 12 of the bed insert 3, above which the head of a person lying on the mattress is located when the bed is used as intended, can be pivoted downwards relative to the rest of the bed insert. The pivot axis 13 for this purpose is horizontally parallel to the transverse direction of the bed insert and is located approximately in the plane of the bed insert and below the area of the mattress on which the chest or neck of the person lying on it rests. The angle 14 by which the surface area 12 can be lowered can, for example, range from 1 to 10 degrees; experience has shown that a comfortable value is 5 degrees. The ability to lower surface section 12 takes into account the fact that a person's head does not exactly correspond to the orientation of the body axis, but is slightly tilted forward. Since breathing air is channeled through the opening 5 in the mattress 1, a device that emits a soothing aroma can be used very efficiently by placing it near the lower end of this opening 5. For example, this device could be suspended from the bed frame 3 near the opening 5 of the mattress 1.
