Abstract
Described is a large turbocharged two-stroke uniflow crosshead internal combustion engine comprising a plurality of cylinders (1), each comprising scavenge ports (19) and an exhaust gas outlet duct (20) with an exhaust valve (4), an scavenge air intake system through which scavenge air is introduced into the cylinders (1), an exhaust gas system through which exhaust gas produced in the cylinders (1) is exhausted, the exhaust gas system comprising an exhaust gas receiver (3) connected to each of the cylinders (1) via the exhaust gas outlet duct (20), said exhaust gas receiver (3) comprising a housing (29) having an longitudinal axis L, a catalytic reduction assembly (40) arranged inside the exhaust gas receiver housing (29), the catalytic reduction assembly (40) comprising an assembly inlet (41), an assembly outlet (42) and at least one catalytic reduction unit (43A, 43B) comprising at least one catalytic reduction element (44). The engine is peculiar in that the housing (29) of the exhaust gas receiver (3) as seen in a cross sectional view perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L of said housing (29) is provided with increasing radius from a bottom part to a top part of the exhaust gas outlet ducts (20). Hence, it is possible to arrange the exhaust gas receiver closer to cylinders of the engine, hence occupying less space and leaving more space for cargo.
