AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing infusion systems are prone to over-dosage or under-dosage of medication due to accidental rotation of the control device during the infusion process, which can occur when the patient fails to maintain a steady position, leading to incorrect medication delivery.

Method used

The infusion system incorporates means to compensate or block relative rotation between the control device and the dispensing device, such as mechanical or electronic compensation mechanisms, including magnetic coupling, gear transmission systems, and rotation sensors, to ensure accurate dosing by adjusting the rotation of the actuating rotor based on detected angular displacement.

Benefits of technology

The system effectively prevents substantial variations in medication dosage, ensuring that the administered dose remains within programmed limits, thereby maintaining accurate and consistent medication delivery.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a device for transdermal infusion of a medication. In particular, the invention relates to an infusion system (1) for infusing a medication in a patient, comprising a medication dose dispensing device (2) and a control device (3) for controlling the dispensing device (2), wherein the dispensing device (2) comprises: - means for injecting medication in the patient, - a tank for the medication solution for the infusion, - pumping means making the tank fluidly communicating with the injecting means, - an actuated rotor, operationally coupled to the pumping means, and wherein the control device (3) comprises: - an actuating rotor, which can be operationally coupled to the actuated rotor of the dispensing device, - means for actuating the actuating rotor which can be operated according to a predefined medication administration protocol for administering a programmed dose, and wherein the infusion system (1) can be configured in a non-operating configuration, in which the dispensing device (2) and the control device (3) are spaced apart from each other, and in an operating configuration, in which the dispensing device (2) and the control device (3) are temporarily proximitycoupled, and wherein the actuating rotor of the control device (3) and the actuated rotor of the dispensing device (2) are arranged so as to have a common direction of the rotation axes, characterised in that the system comprises means for compensating or blocking the relative rotation of the control device with respect to the dispensing device.
