Abstract
Description
Emergency signaling system for vehicles Technical sector. The present invention falls within the field of road safety and specifically within emergency signaling systems for traffic management platforms, applicable to vehicles. Prior art Currently, emergency signaling devices for vehicles are known, comprising a warning device, or warning, connected to the vehicle's battery, and comprising a manually operated switch intended for the simultaneous activation of all the vehicle's turn signals. One drawback of this signaling device is that it requires manual activation even in the event of a severe impact, in which the driver may be stunned, and it may become completely unusable due to an electrical failure after a vehicle impact, which entails a high risk of accidents for other drivers due to the lack of vehicle signaling. Regulations in some countries require the additional use of a portable emergency signaling beacon, independent of the vehicle and intended to be placed externally on the roof of the vehicle in case of accident or breakdown. These portable emergency signaling beacons comprise: an electrical power supply battery, an array of signaling light elements, a communication module with integrated GPS, and a manual push button for activating the light elements and sending an emergency signal with the vehicle's location to a control or incident management platform. These portable beacons have several drawbacks, specifically that they require manual intervention by the user to place the beacon outside the vehicle and to activate the button, which poses a risk in cases of reduced mobility, disabled, injured or stunned persons due to an accident. An additional drawback is that the portable beacon, being an independent element used very sporadically, may be unusable at the time of its use due to a depletion of the batteries or power supply included in the beacon itself. The technical problem that arises is an improvement in the emergency signaling of vehicles. Explanation of the invention. The emergency signaling system for vehicles, the subject of the invention, is of the type comprising a warning device connected to an electrical installation of the vehicle powered by a main battery; said warning device having a button for simultaneous activation of the vehicle's turn signals. This emergency signaling system has technical characteristics aimed at solving the problem described above. Specifically, one objective of the invention is to prevent the lack of power supply to the signaling system when an emergency light signal is activated and an emergency alert is sent to a traffic management platform. Another objective of the invention is to integrate the emergency signaling system into the vehicle, eliminating the possibility of the beacon being stolen and preventing the driver or occupants of the vehicle from having to go out onto the road to place the beacon on the roof of the vehicle, minimizing the risk of accidents by running over. Another objective of the invention is to allow the automatic activation of the emergency system and the sending of an emergency alert to a traffic management platform when the vehicle suffers an accident or impact of sufficient intensity to activate the airbags, since in this case the occupants may be stunned and unable to immediately remove the portable beacon from the glove compartment, place it on the roof of the vehicle and perform its manual activation. To achieve the proposed objectives and in accordance with the invention, this emergency signaling system comprises an emergency signaling and warning device, permanently integrated into the vehicle, comprising: - an auxiliary power supply battery, permanently connected to the vehicle's electrical system by means of a charger or a charge isolating relay; - an intelligent control module with integrated eSIM and GPS, programmed to send an emergency alert to a traffic management platform; - an emergency amber LED array integrated into a housing located in a high area of the vehicle, with a 360° surround visibility perimeter and - at least one switch for simultaneous activation of the vehicle's turn signals; the intelligent control module and the emergency amber LED array. Integrating the emergency signaling and warning device into the vehicle avoids the problems mentioned above, which arise from the use of portable beacons that must be handled, placed and activated by the user in case of emergency. Powering the emergency signaling and warning device with an auxiliary battery connected to the vehicle's electrical system via a charger or charge isolating relay allows the auxiliary battery to be permanently charged and maintain its charge, ensuring the power supply to the emergency signaling and warning device when needed, even after a disconnection or failure of the vehicle's main battery, caused by a breakdown or accident. According to the invention, this emergency signaling and warning device may comprise: - a manual switch located on the vehicle's dashboard, for operation by the driver or one of the vehicle's occupants, - or an automatic switch connected to a vehicle data bus that activates emergency signaling and warning without human intervention, in response to a signal from a vehicle safety system; - or both switches, manual and automatic, arranged in parallel, so that the activation of any one of them is sufficient to activate the emergency signaling and warning device. Activating the emergency signaling and warning device in response to a signal from a vehicle safety system, for example from the airbag activation signal, provides automatic and instantaneous emergency signaling and warning, avoiding delays that could compromise safety and delay assistance to occupants. It also provides an instant response for disabled, injured, or panicked people, eliminating the reaction gap and avoiding a delay in signaling that reduces the reaction time of other drivers and can endanger the lives of occupants remaining inside the vehicle. In the invention, it is provided that the emergency amber LED array can be integrated into the housing of the vehicle's third brake light, or into a housing protruding from the vehicle's roof, with a 360° surround visibility perimeter. If the LED array is integrated into the housing of the vehicle's third brake light, the amber emergency LEDs are arranged on a printed circuit board (PCB) interleaved with the red LEDs of the third brake light. These amber LEDs are high-intensity for emergency use and feature wide-angle optics for extended visibility. Unlike conventional turn signals that are located at mid-height, the elevated location of the amber LEDs on the roof of the vehicle, together with the turn signals, provides a 3D warning geometry, forming a large visual triangle. This is an important feature because, due to their height, the drivers of vans, trucks, or buses sometimes cannot see the turn signals of a car directly in front or two cars ahead. The high-mounted headlights break down this visual barrier. Brief description of the content of the drawings To complement the description being made and in order to facilitate the understanding of the characteristics of the invention, a set of drawings is included with this descriptive report in which, for illustrative and non-limiting purposes, the following has been represented: - Figure 1 shows a schematic of the emergency signaling system for vehicles according to the invention. Detailed exposition of modes of implementation of the invention As can be seen in Figure 1, the emergency signaling system for vehicles comprises a warning device (1) and an emergency signaling and warning device (4) that is permanently integrated into a vehicle (not shown). The warning device (1) is connected to the vehicle's own electrical system (2), which is supplied by a main battery (21). This warning device (1) typically includes a button (11) for the simultaneous activation of the vehicle's turn signals (3). The emergency signaling and warning device (4) of the invention comprises: an auxiliary power supply battery (41), permanently connected to the vehicle's electrical installation (2) by means of a charger or a charge isolating relay (5); an intelligent control module (42) with integrated eSIM and GPS, programmed to send an emergency warning to a traffic management platform; an emergency amber LED matrix (43) integrated into a housing protruding from the vehicle's roof with a 360° surround visibility perimeter; and at least one switch (44, 45) for simultaneous activation of the vehicle's turn signals (3), the intelligent control module (42), and the emergency amber LED matrix (43). Specifically, in the example shown, said emergency signaling and warning device (4) comprises a manually operated switch (44) and an automatically operated switch (45), connected in parallel, so that the operation of either of them causes the simultaneous activation of the vehicle's turn signals (3); the intelligent control module (42) responsible for sending a warning to a traffic management platform and the amber LED matrix (43). The switch (44) is preferably arranged on the dashboard of the vehicle to facilitate its manual operation by the driver or one of the vehicle occupants. The switch (45) is connected to a vehicle data bus (not shown), which activates emergency signaling and warning without human intervention, in response to a signal from a vehicle safety system, for example by detecting an activation signal of the vehicle's airbags. Once the nature of the invention has been sufficiently described, as well as an example of a preferred embodiment, it is noted for the appropriate purposes that the materials, shape, size and arrangement of the elements described may be modified, provided that this does not imply an alteration of the essential characteristics of the invention claimed below.
