Abstract
Description
Underwater breathing device Object of the invention The present invention relates to a device specially designed to facilitate underwater breathing when doing sports in the sea or in the pool. Equipped with two one-way valves, it allows the inhalation of fresh air and expels exhaled air. The device is an interesting accessory for any diving enthusiast, although it is especially designed to complement other sports such as underwater hockey, underwater rugby, pool biking, underwater photography and videography, underwater yoga, and others. A light counterweight, like a belt, is used to facilitate immersion and maintain the ideal depth. The goal is to achieve neutral buoyancy while considering safety and personal physical capabilities. Combined with any of the aforementioned sports, the invention allows for the practice of aquatic sports at shallow depths (30-60 cm) in a relaxed manner, with minimal effort and a constant supply of fresh air—what the inventor describes as enjoying being submerged. Technical field to which the invention relates The invention presented affects the section of current needs of life in the area of health, protection, entertainment and more specifically in the area of sports, impacting the industry of manufacturing accessories for the practice of water sports. Background of the invention Swimming is one of the most popular sports in all countries, and especially in Spain, which, due to its size and peninsular location, boasts a long coastline and beaches of all kinds. Furthermore, the rising standard of living has led to the development of numerous sports centers, gyms, and public or private swimming pools where the sport can be practiced. Accessible to anyone, regardless of their economic level, it is one of the most recommended sports for staying physically fit. Regarding the field of invention, there are many precedents because, especially when practiced at sea, it is very attractive to contemplate the underwater beauty, the seabed, the fauna, the flora, etc. For this purpose, complementary elements have been developed that allow good vision, a good speed of advance and above all ease of breathing even while below the water level, which is what the invention now presented deals with and which leads to the use of the Spanish word "esnórquel" derived from the English word "snorkel". Snorkeling is defined, strictly speaking, as the practice of diving at water level with the swimmer usually equipped with protective goggles, a tube commonly known as a snorkel, and swimming fins. Goggles, sometimes called diving masks, serve to facilitate underwater vision while avoiding direct contact of the eyes with chlorinated, salt water, or any other product that may be harmful or irritating to the eyes during immersion. It is known that there are many models of breathing tubes, although they are usually short tubes suitable for swimming with traditional goggles and fins. However, the inventor, having developed the device mentioned at the beginning of this document, has found that the snorkels currently on the market do not meet the necessary requirements for use in diving or underwater sports. Therefore, he has designed the device described herein, which represents a novelty among snorkels. Description of the invention The present invention relates to a device to facilitate the sport of immersion in its snorkeling modality or combined with any of the sports practices mentioned in the object of the invention. The device is necessary to breathe normally even with the body and head submerged in the water; that is, it performs the functions of a snorkel, but with the appropriate design that is compatible with the variety of new underwater activities mentioned above. According to the inventor's design, the underwater breathing device is a tubular apparatus. At one end, it has a mouthpiece designed to be inserted into the swimmer's mouth. This mouthpiece includes, at its end, a first drain valve through which exhaled air is expelled. In a second section, there is a slightly curved flexible tube such that the axes of symmetry of the inlet and outlet sections form an angle of approximately 150 degrees, having a length of approximately 10-12 cm. Next, a third section of rigid tube is provided, attachable to the previous one, which is equipped with a second valve that allows air to enter from the surface and prevents the return of exhaled air. The fourth section, similar to the second but much longer, is a flexible tube that can bend up to 90 degrees. Its structure maintains the tube's cross-section regardless of the bend. At its end, a perforated plug allows air to pass through while preventing foreign objects from entering. This fourth section, on its opposite and final side, passes through a polyurethane float 30 cm long and 16 cm in diameter. Attached to the tube, the float is designed to prevent water from entering by keeping the end of the tube with the perforated plug above the water level. In short, it's a specially designed snorkel that stands out for its efficient ventilation, reliability, assistance, and independence underwater. The unique feature of this device is its two valves, which allow it to remain underwater with a sufficient flow of fresh air to sustain the swimmer's breathing while submerged. Drawings Three figures are included with the following meaning: Figure 1 It represents the accessory of the invention with all its components properly coupled to form its overall structure. The following has been noted: 1.- Nozzle with drain valve 2. Flexible ring sleeve 3.- Straight pipe with intake valve 4. Flexible tube 5.- Perforated plug 6. Float Figure 2 The invention's accessory is depicted with its components separated from each other to show its structure more clearly. The flexible tube is drawn with a slight curve to suggest its flexibility. Figure 3 It depicts a swimmer equipped with the accessory of the invention practicing snorkeling, and it can be observed that the respirator is kept above the water level thanks to the existence of the float. Description of a preferred embodiment Underwater breathing device (Figs. 1, 2, and 3) consisting of a tubular structure that allows a swimmer to breathe normally while snorkeling. In a preferred embodiment of the inventor, it comprises several elements connected sequentially to form the accessory. This accessory begins with a mouthpiece with a drain valve (1) for insertion into the swimmer's mouth, as is typical with snorkels. Next, a flexible sleeve of rings (2), approximately 10-12 cm long, is connected. In its resting position, this sleeve is shaped such that the axes of symmetry of its end sections form an angle of approximately 150 degrees. The accessory is then extended by a rigid, straight tube with a circular cross-section, incorporating a one-way intake valve (3).Next, a section of flexible pipe (4) is fitted, which has a length of 170 cm. The flexible tube (4), at its end, is equipped with a perforated plug (5), whose holes allow the swimmer to breathe and prevent any objects from entering and blocking the air inlet. At the end of the flexible tube (4), a float (6) is inserted and attached, which keeps the air inlet mouth out of the water, with the perforated plug (5) mentioned above. The arrangement of the elements of the invention allows the person snorkeling to breathe normally, inhaling air through the perforated plug (5) and expelling it through the mouthpiece with a drain valve (1). It is not considered necessary to expand upon this description to enable a person skilled in the art to understand the scope and advantages of the invention, as well as to develop and implement it. However, it should be understood that the invention has been described according to a preferred embodiment, and therefore may be subject to modifications without affecting or altering the fundamental principles of the invention. In other words, the terms in which this preferred description of the invention has been presented should always be interpreted broadly and not as limiting.
