Abstract
Description
Pet identification device OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The object of the present invention, as its title indicates, is a pet identification device. This innovation offers advantages previously unknown within current techniques. The present invention is characterized by the special functional and constructive characteristics of the elements that form part of the device, so that all of them contribute to achieving a pet identification device in a comprehensive solution for both professionals specialized in the care and handling of animals and for non-specialized users who are looking for an efficient tool to guarantee the safety and tracking of their pets, or in case of loss. TECHNICAL SECTOR Therefore, the present invention falls within the scope of pet identification devices. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION With reference to the current state of the art, it should be noted that, although various identifying devices are known, the existence of any other that presents structural and constitutive technical characteristics equal or similar to those presented by the invention claimed herein is unknown. EXPLANATION OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a subcutaneous pet identification device that integrates two communication technologies into a single biocompatible package. On one hand, it incorporates RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, which complies with official standards and allows for the formal identification of pets using standardized systems. On the other hand, it incorporates NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which offers compatibility with mobile devices, facilitating quick access to the animal's information via smartphones. This innovative system combines both technologies in a compact and secure format, ensuring its adaptability to the animal's body and its durability over time. Furthermore, its design optimizes functionality for both pet owners and the authorities responsible for pet management and control, offering a comprehensive and efficient solution for animal identification. Specifically, what the invention proposes, as noted above, is a pet identification device comprising two main elements that operate in parallel to provide an advanced and multifunctional solution. First, it includes an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) transponder, compliant with current regulations and standards for official animal identification. This transponder uses traditional microchip technology, ensuring compatibility with conventional readers used by veterinarians, shelters, and other animal care organizations. One of the main advantages of this transponder is that it requires no modifications to existing protocols, ensuring a seamless transition to professional use. Thanks to this feature, the device can be easily integrated into current practices without causing disruption or additional costs for institutions that already have RFID readers. Furthermore, the RFID transponder allows for the maintenance of essential functionality from traditional microchips, such as the secure storage of key information about the pet, including its unique identification, owner details, and veterinary records. This ensures that pets can be quickly identified in case of loss or emergency, contributing to their safety and well-being. Secondly, the device includes an NFC (Near Field Communication) transponder, which operates using the communication protocols typical of mobile and smart electronic devices. This NFC technology expands the device's capabilities by enabling direct interaction with smartphones, offering pet owners an accessible tool for managing relevant information, such as identification data, medical history, contact information in case of loss, or a link that automatically notifies the owner of the location and time of the scan. The NFC transponder allows users to interact directly with the device using their mobile phones, without the need for specialized equipment. For example, by bringing a smartphone close to the device, the owner can access important information about their pet. The accessibility offered by this pet identification device is particularly advantageous in situations where a conventional RFID reader is unavailable. These readers are generally not accessible to non-specialists, complicating the immediate identification of lost animals. In typical cases, whoever finds a lost pet must follow strict procedures involving transporting the animal to specific facilities or contacting trained personnel. This process can be stressful for both the animal and its owner, as well as delaying the resolution of the problem. However, the ability to quickly scan the device and access pre-authorized information simplifies the process, facilitating immediate identification and significantly reducing the associated emotional impact. This innovative approach optimizes the experience for both pet owners and those assisting in the rescue. Furthermore, NFC technology facilitates the updating and management of data stored on the device, allowing owners to keep information current and readily available at all times. Integrating both technologies into a single device ensures not only compliance with traditional identification systems, but also a significant improvement in functionality and convenience for users, thus consolidating a robust and adaptable solution for pet care and tracking. Unless otherwise stated, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the meanings commonly understood by a person skilled in the art to which this invention pertains. Similar or equivalent procedures and materials to those described herein may be used in the practice of the present invention. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS To complete the description being made and in order to aid in a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, this descriptive report is accompanied, as an integral part thereof, by figures in which, for illustrative and non-limiting purposes, the following has been represented: Figure 1 is a schematic representation of the pet identification device. Figure 2 is a schematic representation of the pet identification device with two independent memory modules (3). PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION In view of the figures, a preferred, though not limiting, embodiment of the proposed invention is described below, which consists of an identification device for pets. As shown in the figures, the pet identification device comprises two main components that work in parallel to offer a comprehensive and versatile solution. These are: an RFID transponder (1) and an NFC transponder (2). The RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) transponder (1) operates under current protocols and regulations for official pet identification. This transponder uses the same technology as traditional microchips, ensuring compatibility with standard readers used by veterinarians, animal shelters, and other animal care organizations. The second component of the device is an NFC (Near Field Communication) transponder (2), compatible with the communication protocols used in mobile phones and other smart devices. This technology complements the RFID transponder by offering an additional layer of functionality and accessibility for pet owners. Additionally, the device comprises at least one memory module (3), whose main function is to store information to be displayed when required. This memory module (3) allows for the storage of essential data, such as the owner's name, contact number, the animal's medical information, or any other relevant information that facilitates its identification and care in case of loss or emergency. Depending on the implementation, the RFID transponder (1) and the NFC transponder (2) may be connected to the same memory module (3) or to different memory modules (3) without any connection between them. The device comprises a first antenna (4) linked to the RFID transponder (1), enabling data reading and transmission via this technology. It is configured to operate within the frequency range used by conventional RFID systems, between 125 kHz and 134.2 kHz. The device also comprises a second antenna (5) optimized for NFC technology, operating at a frequency of 13.56 MHz and linked to the NFC transponder (2). Both antennas and their respective transponders operate independently. All components are protected by a casing (6), which encloses and protects all internal elements of the device. Preferably, this casing (6) is made of a biocompatible material. Being biocompatible, it prevents any adverse reactions or rejection by the pet's body, ensuring that the device can be implanted or worn comfortably without risk to the animal's health. Having sufficiently described the nature of the present invention, as well as the manner of putting it into practice, it is not considered necessary to make its explanation more extensive so that any expert in the field may understand its scope and the advantages that derive from it, it being noted that, within its essentiality, it may be put into practice in other modes of embodiment that differ in detail from the one indicated as an example, and which will also achieve the protection sought provided that its fundamental principle is not altered, changed or modified.
