Description

Basket that attaches to a scooter Object of the invention The present invention relates to a cargo basket designed for attachment to Personal Mobility Vehicles (PMVs), commonly known as scooters, and features the advantage of being foldable. The basket is mounted behind the scooter's stem, facing the direction of travel, and can be folded or unfolded in that position, being removable in both cases. Technical field to which the invention relates The invention presented affects the sections of current needs of life and transport, in its sections of health, protection, entertainment, sports, games, distractions and in the section of land vehicles that move in a way other than on rails, of the International Patent Classification (IPC), impacting, from an industrial point of view, the manufacture of accessories for the vehicles currently known as VMP vehicles. Background of the invention Scooters have existed since time immemorial. They basically consist of two-wheeled platforms with a front bar, roughly vertical, to the top of which is attached a horizontal bar that serves as a handlebar. In their most basic form, they are propelled by the user pushing off with one foot from time to time. In recent years, electric scooters, powered by batteries, have emerged and are enjoying a success that initially no one expected. They are economical and significantly facilitate mobility in urban environments, but the exponential increase in their widespread use and the ability to travel at speeds of up to 25 km / h, increasing traffic risks, has forced traffic authorities to regulate their use. In short, owning an electric scooter is no longer just a matter of charging the battery and heading out. Current regulations stipulate that personal mobility vehicles must meet certain technical requirements, be properly identified, and have mandatory civil liability insurance. The entry into force of Law 5 / 2025, on civil liability and insurance in the circulation of motor vehicles, extends this obligation to certain light personal vehicles, such as electric scooters, whose users are required to wear helmets and are prohibited from riding on sidewalks. Nothing is mentioned that would prevent the attachment of the cargo carrier proposed in this invention to the scooter. There are some precedents for cargo carriers attachable to two-wheeled vehicles, especially bicycles. Very similar to the invention presented here is the one entitled "Bicycle Box" with patent number ES-1146514 U, which describes a folding box designed to be attached to a folding bicycle. Several solutions for baskets attachable to the handlebars or the rear of bicycles are also known. Regarding scooters, there are known registered inventions such as "Telescopic bar assembly with lights, reinforcement, and control module for personal mobility vehicles," patent number ES-1296394 U, which describes a signaling device on a telescopic support with turn signals, and "Scooter accessory and associated scooter attachment device," patent number ES-2886269 T3, which describes a universal device for attaching a telescopic bar to the scooter platform, onto which various objects can then be placed. However, probably due to the recent emergence of scooters, the inventor is unaware of any precedent like the one now proposed, and therefore considers it a novelty in the current state of the art, anticipating its widespread acceptance. Description of the invention The present invention relates to a carrying basket that, in addition to being designed for attachment to personal mobility vehicles, has the advantage of being foldable. In simplified terms, it can be said that it appears as a basket open at the top, without a lid, which, when unfolded, has the shape of a right prism with a rectangular base, and when folded, has a flat rectangular projection shape and a thickness equivalent to six times the thickness of the sheet metal of its walls, due to the overlapping of the same in that position. Additionally, there is a piece that is permanently attached to the scooter's vertical mast with cable ties. This piece also includes hooks for hanging the basket. This means that the basket, in either its folded or unfolded position, can be removed for use in a store or taken home with its contents. In its folded position, it has openings that form the handle for the user. To securely maintain the folded position, a longitudinal U-shaped piece is inserted from the top, with protective strips to prevent scratching the paint. The unfolded position, whether loaded or unloaded, is easily maintained by the bottom of the basket. To facilitate transport when loaded, the same U-shaped piece is inserted into the openings that serve as handles when folded, positioning it transversely to act as a handle. To reduce the overall weight, the sheet metal walls have numerous perforations. Drawings Fifteen figures are included with the following meaning: Figures 1 and 2 The front (Fig. 1) and rear pieces of the basket are shown, according to the direction of travel, with the front piece being the one attached to the scooter's steering mast. The following elements are indicated: 1.- Front piece 2.- Opening 3.- Prominences for hanging 4.- Hinge 5.- Hole 6. Scooter Figure 15 This is a schematic representation of a scooter with the basket in the extended position. The dotted line shows the basket once it has been lowered, with the handle / clamp attached to it to function as a handle. Description of a preferred embodiment A basket attachable to a scooter (Figs. 1 to 15) consists of a carrying device designed for attachment to PMVs (Personal Mobility Vehicles). In a preferred embodiment, the basket is a rectangular-based, parallelepiped container formed by joining a front piece (1), a rear piece (6), a left side piece (7), a right side piece (8), and a bottom piece (9). The pieces are joined at the vertical and horizontal edges of the parallelepiped by hinges (4), each of a length appropriate to the edge it connects. In (Figs.1 and 2) the corresponding hinges (4) have been represented once glued to the front (1) and rear (6) pieces, the gluing having been carried out by welding or any other of the usual means. Figures 3, 4, and 5 show the left side (7), right side (8), and bottom (9) pieces. These pieces lack edge hinges (4) because the hinge wings for each are already present in the front (1) and back (6) pieces. However, they all incorporate additional hinges (4) located on the central vertical axis of symmetry of the left (7) and right (8) side pieces and on the central horizontal axis of symmetry of the bottom piece (9). That is, each of the pieces mentioned in the previous paragraph consists of two parts of identical dimensions, these parts being joined together by means of their corresponding hinge (4) glued, welded or secured by any other means. The joining of the five component faces of the basket of the invention allows the formation of the basket (10) that has been represented in (Fig.6) which shows us the unfolded configuration of the same, it can be observed that all the panels have a plurality of holes. Taking into account the function performed by all the hinges (4), a configuration is achieved that allows the basket to be easily taken to a folded position in which the different component pieces are superimposed forming a package of little thickness with the width and height dimensions of the front (1) and rear (6) pieces. If the folded position is not secured in some way, the basket may open with any vibration or movement. The inventor's solution for securing the folded position is shown schematically in Figures 7 and 10, where the use of the U-shaped handle / clamp (11) can be seen. This handle / clamp immobilizes the package when inserted through the top of the external parts, namely the front (1) and rear (6) pieces. The inner part of the U-shaped handle / clamp is lined with protective strips (11.1) that prevent damage to the paint on the aforementioned external pieces due to repeated insertion and removal of the handle / clamp (11). In (Fig. 7) and in (Figs. 1 and 2) the existence of openings (2) can be observed in both the front piece (1) and the rear piece (6). These openings (2) function as handles, allowing the hand to be inserted through them when the basket is in the folded position; and they also serve to insert the handle / clamp piece (11) when the basket is in the unfolded position, in which case, said piece also acts as a handle, its orientation being opposite to when it acts as a clamp because, in that position, the slots (11.2), which are near the ends of the handle / clamp piece (11), can be housed in the plates from which the front (1) and rear (6) pieces are made, since the distance between the slots (11.2) is identical to the width of the basket in the unfolded position. That is, the handle / clamp piece (11) has a dual function, acting as a handle when the basket is unfolded (Fig.11) and as a clamp (Fig.10) when it is folded. Finally, there is another part, shown in Figures 12 and 13. This is a support piece (12) designed to hang the basket in both its folded and unfolded positions. This support (12) is permanently attached to the mast (14) of the scooter (16), as shown in Figures 14 and 15, by securing it with a pair of metal, nylon, or other type of cable ties. The support has two hooks (13), one at the top and one at the bottom, which can be inserted into the holes in the hanging protrusions (3) on the front piece (1), shown in Figures 1, 6, and 7, and also in the enlarged detail of Figure 14, which shows a hook (13) fitting into the hole in the hanging protrusion (3). This is possible because the distance between the hooks (13) and the distance between the prominences for hanging (3) are equal. This arrangement of the elements allows the basket to be removed at any time, as suggested in (Fig.15), with the possibility of securing the hanging position by using screws or pins that, passing through the hooks (13), are inserted into the holes in the hanging prominences (3). The basket is made of painted or passivated sheet metal, giving it a clean and attractive appearance. The hinges are also metal and are likewise painted. It can be observed that, to reduce the overall weight, numerous holes (5) are drilled in all the panels. It is not considered necessary to expand upon this description to enable a person skilled in the art to understand the scope and advantages of the invention, as well as to develop and implement it. However, it should be understood that the invention has been described according to a preferred embodiment, and therefore may be subject to modifications without affecting or altering the fundamental principles of the invention. In other words, the terms in which this preferred description of the invention has been presented should always be interpreted broadly and not as limiting.
